Building a 3D Printing (from a 3D Printer)

With the Computer Art II students they just finished making a DYI touch screen and moved on to a “self replicating” 3D printer that used printed parts from community website called RepRap.  The the RepRap concept was developed by a professor from Bath (UK) which was based on open source community development.  And can be noted as the start of the start-up  3D printing company revolution; most notably Makerbot.  To start we printed the needed parts from an industrial printer by Dimension, then assemble the frame, wired up the frame and upload the code.  A lot more went into this project and stages for the finished results than noted, but those were the main stages.
